About
After moving to the US and spending 10 years in a multicultural environment, I found myself enjoying my explorations around Grand Bazaar, the old district of Istanbul, even more, compared to how I used to do so back when I was living in Turkey. Every time I visit the old town, I get fascinated by the architecture, the deep culture and the layered history of Istanbul. It's definitely a mysterious city that has been shaped and influenced by strikingly different rulers and their philosophies for many centuries.
Visiting all varieties of small antique stores, talking to their long-time owners, listening to their life journeys and learning about their ancestors sowing the seeds of their craft excite me. It is a unique perception to see the deep connections between different ethnic groups that work together. There are limitless sources of inspiration at this old bazaar.
While I was designing my first small collection, I got inspired by my life criss-crossed between Istanbul and San Francisco. I tried to design a collection that juxtaposes modernity and antiquity, with just the right amounts that feel right. I also aimed my design to embody both the chicness of classic European designs and the exotic tinge of Oriental culture, making an effortless look possible for everyday wear.
Through the pieces I design, I hope to reach out to the beautiful women that are multi faceted, multi cultured, and both live in the present moment and appreciate the beauty of history. Hence, they bear both classical beauty and an air of mystery by wearing my designs.
